What Novels Would You Restart Your Library With?

by | Oct 1, 2018 | Story is King, Wisdom From Kammbia Column | 0 comments

I had a reader asked me a question recently that I’ve been thinking about for several weeks.

If you had to restart my library novels what would you choose?

I had to discuss the parameters on how I would answer my reader’s question.   We agreed that series books would count as one selection in my choices. I came up with a dozen novels for my selections (in alphabetical order).

1) Eva Luna by Isabel Allende

2) Home is The Sailor by Jorge Amado

3) Parable of Sower by Octavia Butler

4) The Wooden Sea by Jonathan Carroll

5) Memory & Dream by Charles de Lint

6) Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison

7) The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber

8) Woven in Moonlight by Isabel Ibanez

9) Middle Passage by Charles Johnson

10) Children of Earth & Sky by Guy Gavriel Kay

11) South of The Border, West of the Sun by Haruki Murakami

12) The Long Way Home by Louise Penny

This was difficult.  I had several more choices to this dozen that could easily been on the list like The 6:41 to Paris by Jean-Phillipe Blondel, Gilead by Marilynne Robinson and The Opposite of Art by Athol Dickson to name a few.

What would be your choices? Looking forward to reading your answers to this question.
