What Novels Would You Restart Your Library With?

I had a reader asked me a question recently that I’ve been thinking about for several weeks.

If you had to restart my library with ten novels what would you choose?

I had to discuss the parameters on how I would answer my reader’s question.   We agreed that series books would count as one selection of the ten. And I would have more than ten novels in that case. But I could not have more than ten selections.  Well, I have finally come up with ten selections (in alphabetical order).

1) Home is The Sailor by Jorge Amado

2) The Parable Series by Octavia Butler

3) The Wooden Sea by Jonathan Carroll

4) The Little Country by Charles de Lint

5) The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber

6) Cold Fire by Dean Koontz

7) The Long Way Home by Louise Penny

8) The Retrieval Artist Series by Kristine Kathryn Rusch

9) Elantris by Brandon Sanderson

10) A Time of Changes by Robert Silverberg

This was difficult.  I had several choices that could easily been on the list like The 6:41 to Paris by Jean-Phillipe Blondel, Middle Passage by Charles Johnson, and The Opposite of Art by Athol Dickson to name a few.

What would be your choices? Looking forward to reading your answers to this question.
