MARION HILL

My second appearance on the Best Book Ever Podcast aired today. The host, Julie Strauss, and I discussed one of my all time favorite novels, Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler.

I have read this novel 3 times (when it first came in October 1993, then 10 years later, and most recently last summer for the podcast) and it is one of the very few books that has stayed with me throughout my adult life. Julie and I have wanted to discuss this book for some time, and I’m glad we got to talk about it for nearly an hour.

There’s a lot to discuss with one: Religion, Environmentalism, Dystopian, Coming of Age, & Father-Daughter relationship.

Also, I talked about reading this novel multiple times during my adult life and why this novel has grown with me over the years. A lot to unpack!

Thanks again, Julie for having me on the podcast. I’m looking forward to the next opportunity to be on the podcast where we will have time to discuss Guy Gavriel Kay’s Children of Earth & Sky.
