The last post discussed the visit to Strasbourg from my vacation earlier in the month. My girlfriend Brenda and I spent the second part of the vacation in Paris. We had three days in the city and made sure that we got to see the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, and took a boat ride on the Seine River.
However, I want to focus on the best dining experience I’ve ever had. I’m a foodie and love a great meal. I’m willing to try different foods across cultures and always looking for a great food experience. We found it in Paris. Two of the three nights in Paris, we dined at Au P’Tit Curieux Restaurant in the 10th Arrondissement. It was recommended to us by Annie Sargent from Join Us in France podcast and website. This was the best recommendation for the entire trip.
Au P’Tit Curieux Restaurant was a short fifteen-minute walk from our hotel, Hotel Soft. The hotel was clean, nice, and we had excellent customer service. I would recommend Hotel Soft when you are in Paris. My girlfriend, Brenda and I walked to the restaurant both times, and we enjoyed the walk in the 10th Arrondissement. We arrived and the owner, Saleem, a Paris native, spoke excellent English and made sure our dining experience was enjoyable. We had expected to stay an hour or 90 minutes tops on our first visit but our dinner lasted nearly 4 hours. So we had to come back for a second time on our last night in Paris.
Saleem was attentive and made sure we felt comfortable the entire time. I thought there would be a language barrier, but that was not the case. He brought us an English menu and spoke it very well. Also, we noticed the connection he had with his 14-year-old son, Suleman. Suleman worked the first night we were there, and Saleem kept him busy. The way he instructed his son on what to do was nice to see. Seems like a father was preparing his son to take over the restaurant down the road.
The food and wine were excellent during both visits. I don’t like oysters but I tried them because Brenda asked and Saleem swore they were delicious. The oysters were better than I expected. I never thought it would take me coming to Paris to eat oysters, but it happened. Brenda said it was the best oysters she ever had. And she loves oysters. We had duck breast & lamb dishes on first visit. We had Salmon & Risotto dishes on our second visit. Saleem kept bringing us French Wine (both White & Red) to try. He gave us two bottles to take back to Texas with us.
I will give my highest recommendation for Au P’Tit Curieux restaurant in the 10th Arrondissement for dinner. If you are visiting Paris for vacation or business, then I will recommend that you have dinner at Au P’tit Curieux. Saleem will make sure you have a fabulous dining experience.
