I’ve been reviewing novels on this blog since January 2011. Outside of publishing my Kammbia novels, writing reviews has been one of the most rewarding things I have done professionally. Writing reviews has clarified my thoughts about why I connect or not connect with a novel. It has made a better reader and writer.
I have decided to spotlight book reviews from indie authors under the category Marion’s Indie Book Spotlight from now on the blog. For authors who self-publish, being visible is paramount, especially in this era of social media.
My plans are to post my standard review of the book and provide links to the author’s website or social media page and any other background information I can find out as well.
I will post the first Marion’s Indie Book Spotlight in April, and my goal is to post reviews once a quarter. We will see how it goes as far as that timeline. I hope that my blog readers and others who visit the blog can find novels from my fellow indie authors to read and develop a writer-reader relationship that will be meaningful to all parties. The most effective marketing tool we possess is still word-of-mouth, and I will ensure I spread the word about great books I come across.
